With a catchy video title of: Sick around America, it seems a class consensus to have sickened most of us as well. The story of Nikki hit me with much pain. It is horrifying to think that an insurance company would flippantly make rescision descision about its customers. Afterall insruance companies are run as a business in America and they prioritize their own bottom line with care little, if at all about whether there customers are covered and well treated. Where do insurance company employees receive their insurance? Are they treated the same way? If this case alone was not enough, to hear about Health Net in California paying bonuses to employees based upon how many rescision cases they issued and one year paid bonuses based upon how much money the employee saved the company.
Consumers pay for health insurance to cover them when they get sick, gambling for the day, if and when they become ill, they will receive financial help in covering the astronomical medical bills. The insurance fees, premiums, and deductable prices are too high and unbearable to pay for any middle class patient, let alone those from lower SES. Even when citizens are covered wth health insurance, their coverage is not always comprehensive. So though they are “covered” it provides a false sense of security in that if they developed cancer or a rare illness, they would not be full covered for a life-threatening condition. Again, it seems the average joe is blighted for being honest and abiding by the rules. Where is justice? Where is integrity? Where is your honest America?
