Through the film, I think the way that most Americans gain the health care they need all depend on the health insurance they bought. If you are under your own or the companies’ health insurance coverage, then you don’t have to worry much, if not, then you definitely have to figure something out to pay for your health care cost. The film included a lot of real examples, people who were under the company’s health insurance coverage, people who couldn’t be qualify to be part of the health insurance programs no matter they have money or not, people who had to change their life or carrier plans and who even couldn’t get the life-saving treatment or surgery in time just because the health insurance issue.

What really shocked me the most were two study numbers mentioned in the film, the Harvard Law School study indicated that almost 700,000 Americans go bankrupt each year because they can’t afford their medical bills; another study from National Academy of Sciences said that about 20,000 Americans died each year due to they can’t get the health care they need. It seems like Health insurance companies sell all kinds of health insurance but they approval no one’s health cost payment apply, they only profit from every customers but never benefit anyone; and the most unreasonable part I couldn’t understand is people won’t get the health insurance coverage for pre-existing condition. I think because I’m under the coverage of my own country’s National Health Insurance for a long time, it’s hard for me to imagine what if I couldn’t get the treatment I need just because the insurance companies don’t pay for my medical cost. The federal government of U.S. now promotes the new health plans for all Americans, it seems like there should be some better solutions for everyone.
